Our Team

Keri - Certified Doula

I am happy you found me! I am a wife, mother, certified Doula and Baby Product Expert, and owner of Devoted Doula Care. I had my first child in April 2021, and since then have been fiercely passionate about everything related to pregnancy, childbirth, and the “fourth trimester”. I completed my full-spectrum training and Postpartum certification with Doula Trainings International and my Gift Registry Expert certification with Be Her Village.

My goal when working with parents and parents-to-be is to get to know you and your preferences so I can provide the best evidence-based support possible. I hold no judgment about your decisions or approach to childbirth and parenting; I believe you know what is best for your family and I will support you unconditionally. I want you to feel heard, respected, uplifted, nurtured, and cared for in the exciting (and oftentimes stressful) time during and after childbirth. I will do my best to ensure you have the care and resources you need to make your transition to parenthood fulfilling and healthy.

I also recognize the disparities that exist in the American healthcare system. I believe that Doula work is reproductive justice work and that everyone, regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, citizenship status, and income, deserves an empowering pregnancy and postpartum experience. For every family that hires me, I make a donation to an organization working hard to advance reproductive justice in our communities.

Sending you strength, confidence, and a dose of sanity as you embark on your journey to parenthood!

Tonya - Certified Doula

Like many before me, I came to this work because of my path to motherhood. Because I was considered of “advanced maternal age,” I wanted the support of a Doula who would see me as an individual and not a statistic. I felt empowered during my birth experience thanks to the knowledge, resources, and support my Doula provided me.

I have officially been doing this work since October 2022; however, unbeknownst to me at the time, I was unofficially supporting friends and family during their births. Maybe this is when the doula bug was planted!

I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing birthing people step into their power, advocate for themselves, and transition into parenthood right in front of my eyes. This is probably why I have cried at every birth thus far. However, postpartum is where I thrive! I have found that families prepare for birth but seldom do so for postpartum. This vulnerable period can be very isolating and where things may fall apart. So, I would love to step in to provide an extra pair of hands, validation, and support because you are not alone.

Things that are important to me: diversity, awareness of biases against black mothers, and inclusion of LGBTQ+ people.

Five words to describe me: observant, protective, candid, silly, and evolving.

Beka - Certified Doula & Lactation Counselor

My passion in life is nurturing and empowering new parents.  I am a Certified Postpartum Doula (DONA), Certified Lactation Counselor, and Newborn Care Specialist. After graduating with a B.S. in Public Health Education, I served in Ethiopia as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer. I have also worked in childcare for 10+ years as a preschool teacher and nanny. I pride myself in being highly skilled in lactation support. I am currently studying to become an IBCLC (highest level of lactation consultant). I also teach prenatal classes (in-home private classes, as well as group classes)- ”Prep for Baby” and “Lactation 101”.

I began my doula career in 2016 after experiencing my own difficult postpartum and breastfeeding journey. Over the past 8 years I have served 65 postpartum families!

My goal is to support each family with warmth, compassion, and humility. Above all, I honor your unique journey. I listen carefully as you express your values and goals, and I highly value your insights and preferences. I provide you with the tools you need to make informed decisions. I support what is best for you and your family. No judgment-just caring, compassionate support.

I'm looking forward to supporting you!

Samaria - Certified Doula

I’m so pleased to meet you! I am a certified birth and postpartum doula, and I love helping parents and parents-to-be navigate the journeys of pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. I began working with expecting parents and those with newborns in 2016, when I worked with non-profit organizations that helped expecting refugees navigate the healthcare system. Since then, I have become even more passionate about supporting parents and parents-to-be throughout their journeys, and even more in love with the childbirth and postpartum process. I have supported dozens of families through all kinds of childbirths, and I have supported a variety of families postpartum. I am excited at the idea of working with you!

My primary goal is to help parents and parents-to-be feel heard and supported in a calm, non-judgmental space. I believe that the pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum experiences are sacred, and I want to empower parents to feel confident as they navigate them. I also aim to help parents feel cared for during these experiences, as parents are often de-prioritized during or after childbirth. I believe that everyone deserves compassionate care in the process from pregnancy through postpartum. As someone who has navigated discrepancies in the healthcare system, I am especially passionate about supporting underrepresented communities. I am here for both the excitement and the stressors of your transition into parenthood.

I received my PhD with a focus on research methods in 2020, so I deeply understand the value of evidence-based practice. I am happy to support parents and parents-to-be gather the resources and tools they need to feel supported on their walks, and I am honored to walk alongside you.

I can’t wait to meet you and your little one!

Yasmine - Certified Doula

My name is Yasmine, and I have always been deeply fascinated by the pregnancy and birth process. As the oldest sibling and cousin, I had the privilege of watching my aunts experience pregnancy and caring for my younger cousins from a young age. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for supporting growing families.

Throughout high school, I worked as a babysitter and later as a nanny while pursuing a nursing degree with the goal of becoming a labor and delivery nurse. Life took a different turn during the pandemic as I got married and began growing my own family.

When I became pregnant with my daughter at 21, I felt strongly called to have an unmedicated birth. Despite facing heavy criticism from people around me, I committed to educating myself and advocating for the birth experience I desired. I went on to have a successful unmedicated birth. While I prepared thoroughly for labor, I was not prepared for postpartum depression, which lasted nearly a year. That season deeply shaped my understanding of how essential postpartum support truly is.

In 2023, I welcomed my son and became more familiar with the role of a doula. During that pregnancy, I naturally found myself supporting friends through their journeys by answering questions, offering encouragement, and helping them feel confident in their decisions. I realized this was more than something I enjoyed; it was my calling. As someone who was on Medicaid with limited savings at the time, I also understood firsthand how financial limitations can make doula support feel out of reach.

Through both my personal experiences and professional training, I am passionate about helping families make informed, confident decisions about their birth and postpartum journey. During my certification process, I learned that Medicaid covers doula services in Virginia, which inspired me even more. I became Virginia state certified and Medicaid approved to ensure families like mine have access to support. I am also birth assistant trained, CPR and NRP certified, and trained to support high risk pregnancies.

It is my passion to help families achieve the birth they desire while preparing for postpartum so they feel supported, confident, and never alone.
