Our Team

Keri, Postpartum Doula & Owner

I am happy you found me! I am a wife, mother, certified doula, and owner of Devoted Doula Care. I had my first child in April 2021, and since then have been fiercely passionate about everything related to pregnancy, childbirth, and the “fourth trimester”. I completed my full-spectrum training and postpartum certification with Doula Trainings International.

My goal as your postpartum Doula is to get to know you and your preferences so I can provide the best evidence-based support possible. As your Doula, I hold no judgment about your decisions or approach to childbirth and parenting; I believe you know what is best for your family and I will support you unconditionally. I want you to feel heard, respected, uplifted, nurtured, and cared for in the exciting (and oftentimes stressful) time after childbirth. I will do my best to ensure you have the care and resources you need to make your transition to parenthood fulfilling and healthy.

I recognize the disparities that exist in the American healthcare system. I believe that Doula work is reproductive justice work and that everyone, regardless of ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, citizenship status, and income, deserves an empowering pregnancy and postpartum experience. For every family that hires me, I make a donation to an organization working hard to advance reproductive justice in our communities.

Sending you strength, confidence, and a dose of sanity as you embark on your journey to parenthood!

Tonya, Birth & Postpartum Doula

Like many before me, I came to this work because of my path to motherhood. Because I was considered of “advanced maternal age,” I wanted the support of a Doula who would see me as an individual and not a statistic. I felt empowered during my birth experience thanks to the knowledge, resources, and support my Doula provided me.

I have officially been doing this work since October 2022; however, unbeknownst to me at the time, I was unofficially supporting friends and family during their births. Maybe this is when the doula bug was planted!

I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing birthing people step into their power, advocate for themselves, and transition into parenthood right in front of my eyes. This is probably why I have cried at every birth thus far. However, postpartum is where I thrive! I have found that families prepare for birth but seldom do so for postpartum. This vulnerable period can be very isolating and where things may fall apart. So, I would love to step in to provide an extra pair of hands, validation, and support because you are not alone.

Things that are important to me: diversity, awareness of biases against black mothers, and inclusion of LGBTQ+ people.

Five words to describe me: observant, protective, candid, silly, and evolving.
